Ramiro Z
Ramiro Z
Ramiro Z was born in 1965 at the German breeder Paul Bahlmann and died in 1995. He was awarded the title ‘Stallion of the Century’. Ramiro Z was an excellent sport horse himself, ridden by Fritz Ligges, and there is not a single studbook that we know of that has had NO son of Ramiro in its collection. Ramiro Z did not only accumulate the blood of Ramzes, but through his dam Valine also that of Cottage Son xx and Logenschlieser. He was first stationed in Westphalia, later in Holstein, then at Zangersheide and after that he moved to the Netherlands. As no other, Ramiro Z has left his imprint behind. Not only in showjumping, but also in dressage many offspring of Ramiro Z have found their way in the sport and/or breeding. We can not possibly mention all his famous offspring here, but we will mention a mare from his first breeding season, the legendary Fatinitza, who first under Fritz Ligges and later Thomas Frühmann jumped from one victory to another and was later dam of Zangersheide stallion Almiro Z. In Ramiro Z´s second season in Holstein he produced the licensed stallions Rinaldo, Rio Negro and Ronald, which would in turn produce five licensed sons. In 1992 Ramiro Z was awarded the title of ‘Horse of the Year’ in the Netherlands. To round off the section about Ramiro Z´ offspring (no more room) we only have to mention Ratina Z, the best mare by far that ever performed in the sport, her results including various Olympic medals and a World Cup in 1992. The Leading Lady of Zangersheide needs no further description. Any horse person who does not know about Ratina Z must have been on another planet these past twenty years. If only because of this mare, Ramiro Z is referred to in the history of horse breeding in gold print. Fokker / Breeder:Gestuet Vornholz, D-Ostenfelde |
